How does a Tecumseh primer bulb work?

The primer bulb on some Tecumseh engines is acutally a small air pump. Pressing the primer pumps air into the float bowl. This small volumn of air displaces some of the fuel that is in the float bowl. The fuel travels up the venturi tube into the venturi area.

Why will my small engine not start?

The whole problem started with flooding of the carb, and sure enough, the float had gas in it so I replaced the float, leveled it, cleaned all orifices in the carb, replaced the seat and needle. When it initially flooded it would take about a minute of running for it to flood out, now it won’t even start unless I continually spray gas into it.
