You can still give your instrument a bath. Carefully place euphonium, tuning slides, and mouthpiece in a bathtub or large container in lukewarm water and let soak for 30-60 minutes. With a clean rag (old t-shirt) or cloth (one that won’t give off lint), pat dry the euphonium and slides of the instrument.

Submerge the horn completely in water and press down all valves to open them (just a couple of times, you don’t need to keep them down.) Leave the horn for an hour to around three hours (only if it is an instrument that hasn’t been bathed in a very long time, or if the valves are stuck down.)

How old is my French horn?
Although the horn is an ancient instrument, the French horn wasn’t introduced until the seventeenth century. It made its first known debut in the comedy-ballet La Princesse d’Elide in Paris in 1664. It’s not actually one piece. Like most instruments, the French horn comes in pieces because of its awkward shape.
How often should you clean your mouthpiece?
Clean your mouthpiece with a mouthpiece brush and a little gentle liquid soap at least once a week. If you want to avoid the mouthpiece getting stuck in the instrument, you can oil the lead pipe once a week or so.
