I’d be surprised if you could still buy 3. And, I don’t know about the availability of 6. However, any bottle of 5 will work fine in your tranny; 6 will (should) work as well, as these products are usually compatible with the older transmissions.
Can I use dexron IV instead of III?
Per GM, Dexron IV is backwards compatible in Dex III applications, but not anything before.

Try not to mix DEXRON-III with DEXRON-VI, only because if you do that you are in fact diluting the DEXRON-VI fluid with a less stable product and therefore throwing away much of the advantage. All you need to remember is that DEXRON-VI is far superior to DEXRON-III.

Can you use Dexron 3 on Toyota factory fill?
Any full viscosity PSF or ATF is what I recommend. Factory isnt dex2 or 3. A couple of my old UOAs of Toyota factory fill had a dose of zinc that is not ueed in Dexron ATFs but is common with hydraulic and PSFs.

Can you use Dextron VI in a GM Truck?
The answer is NO. I learned the hard way. If you ask GM dealers they will tell you GM recommend to use Dextron VI for all our transmissions. GM does not care about you and me. I use to have 2004 GM truck with Alison transmission calls for Dextron III fluid.
