If you aren’t able to get the jewellery in by yourself, go back to your piercing shop. If the hole is still there your piercing artist can use a taper to reopen the piercing and insert the jewellery. Don’t put off visiting your piercing artist. If the hole completely heals, you will lose the piercing.
How quickly does a belly piercing close?
Fresh belly piercings tend to close quickly. If you’ve had one for years, it can close in a few weeks, but for some people it can take longer. Make sure you clean the area regularly until it’s fully healed. If you want to keep your piercing for the long term, put jewelry in it all the time.
Can you’re pierce your belly button after it closes?
In severe cases of rejection or migration, you may have a large amount of scar tissue in the previous area. If so, it’s advisable to not re-pierce this area as the skin is traumatized; rejection can re-occur, and tearing is likely.
Twist the ball that fastens the top curve of the ring until it comes undone (for a horseshoe belly ring). Put aside. Grab the second ball and guide the ring through the pierced skin. Pull the ring down and out until it is completely removed.
How long it takes varies from person to person and will depend on whether you followed the aftercare instructions. In general, expect to wait three months to a year before you’re able to switch out the original jewelry.
Can you pierce your own belly?
You should NEVER try to pierce your own belly button or any other part of your body! The risk of infection is very high if the right equipment isn’t used and if it’s not properly sterilized. The danger of an allergic reaction, bleeding, and scarring is also very real. Aside from that, it would hurt a lot!
What to do if a barbell fell out of your piercing?
If the entire ring or barbell fell out and you’re afraid the piercing will close up on you before you can get to the piercing shop, you can try to re-insert the jewelry if you’re confident and familiar with the piercing. If your piercing is healed, this shouldn’t be a problem at all.
If this piercing was not fully healed inside, the hole can start to close from the inside out. If you feel discomfort or pain, stop. Too much of this may irritate the interior lining of the hole, which heals after the outer portion of the piercing heals (which is why the process takes a lot of time).
Can you ignore an empty hole in your belly button?
You can ignore an empty hole because it does not represent a health risk. But, when it comes to repiercing, sometimes an old channel becomes inflamed or infected after a new piercing is placed nearby.
Rejection can be due to several reasons, especially on belly buttons. The main reason is usually that the piercing is too shallow and your normal movements cause it to migrate until it’s expelled. The other, as Janet Hodson put, is that you might have allergy to the metal and your body tries to expel it.
